The Hermitage of the Soul

The Hermitage of the Soul

Built in a solitary location in the shadow of a glade.

In a place miles from any human habitation.

Well out of reach and designed as such.

It rests quietly in a permanent state of bliss.

The world’s cares are all forsaken.

No other soul but that of God is desired.

Only frugal fare is on offer.

As daily meditation and prayer ascend.

Furnished with a few sparse objects of necessity.

As no luxuries are permitted entry.

Distractions are kept at bay by each day,

and so it has been made that way

Here in solitude a soul can retreat.

A heart can beat with an even rhythm.

It is here where the search begins afresh.

As the world about descends from view.
