Burning Pages

When I was a kid,

We used to have a class

Of “living in harmony”

Wherein we learnt a lot.

We were told that

The world has been

Living in harmony

Ever since the end of

The World War II.

But now I often think,

Are we really showing

Gratitude and building-on 

In the pages of harmony

Or are we descending

Backwards towards

Having grudges,

Seeking vengeance

And declaring wars?

Well by reckoning,

I guess we have.

And in the books

Of “living in harmony”,

We’ve only been

Successfully

Striking phrases,

Cutting edges and

Burning pages.
