With a smile and a nod to Wendy Cope and her poem “Bloody Men”
……………………………………………………………………………………………….
Women are an admirable sex
Somehow possessed of a need to vex.
Why else would they annoy a sofa-sleeper
By the invasive use of a carpet sweeper?.
And see how they drag some sap out shopping
When spending hints – like rain – come dropping;
Or once back home, when he’s inclined to talk,
It’s suggested he takes the dog for a walk!
Even worse, he’ll be met with a heartfelt sigh
And heavy hints about DIY.
And how a woman’s work is never done
In a constant conflict rarely won.
Then In bed, footsore,and in slumber deep
He’ll be woken with “Are you asleep?!”
But, despite all, women are a marvellous lot….
And I’d rather have them here than not!
