CHANDLER, Ariz. – The Chandler Nature Center (CNC) invites you to celebrate Earth Day by learning about the world around you! The environmental-friendly morning takes over the Center and Veterans Oasis Park on April 22, from 9 a.m. to noon, encouraging everyone to “Invest In Our Planet.”
“This year’s Earth Day theme reminds everyone to do their part, and we’re thrilled to connect Chandler residents and visitors with ways we can all work together to protect our environment and natural resources,” explains Cadia Hernandez, event organizer and recreation coordinator at the CNC. “It’s also a great time to be outdoors and enjoy nature, and know we have a hand in preserving it.”
For families looking for fresh-air fun, this naturepalooza features outdoor games, giveaways and educational demonstrations on simple ways to live a more sustainable lifestyle. Enjoy a variety of Earth Day-inspired arts and crafts, like decorating inspirational round river rocks and conversation coin jars.
“Our goal is always to leave nature better than we found it, and one of the easy ways to do that is to support one of the many organizations featured at our Earth Day celebration,” says Hernandez. “Our conservation coin jar craft encourages the community to collect loose change throughout the year and donate it to ongoing conversation efforts.”
The free, fun-filled morning continues until noon with live animal meet and greets courtesy of Phoenix Herpetological Sanctuary and Liberty Wildlife.
The CNC will remain open during the event so the community can experience the latest exhibits in the lobby, including 2022-23 Nature Photo Contest entries. Guests can also shop in the Owl’s Nest Nature Store, which features a variety of eco-friendly products and nature-inspired books and toys.
