SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Several residents of a Scottsdale condo building were evacuated Thursday morning after flooding was found on all floors.
According to the Scottsdale Fire Department, 63 units were evacuated from the complex near 94th Street and Thunderbird Road.
Scottsdale fire crews were on scene at the three-story building and are assisting with occupant services and APS.
“We’re not sure what happened,” Cpt. Dave Folio with the Scottsdale Fire Department said. “Overnight, we have freezing conditions. Maybe something froze in the attic.”
Folio said he believes the sprinkler system for the three-story building may have burst, sending water from the attic down through the other floors.
“Just started going horizontal and every which direction,” he said.
Flood damage companies began arriving Thursday afternoon. Folio said he expects residents to be out of their homes for weeks or longer.
