This palatial house at 303 Archer St, Chandler, has sold for more than $4m.
ONE of Brisbane’s grandest homes — featuring a chandelier that cost as much as a small apartment — has sold for more than $4 million.
Two decades after building the Chandler mansion, retired builder and developer Domenico Casagrande and his wife Lucia have sold their iconic property — setting a new record for a home sale in the suburb.

This home would not look out of place in the south of France.
Spanning 1200 sqm under roof, the palatial home at 303 Archer Street has five bedrooms, six bathrooms, a porte-cochère entry, marble floors, a feature staircase capped by a domed ceiling and a $200,000 Swarovski crystal chandelier.
The front of the house at 303 Archer St, Chandler, is impressive.
There’s also a 1200-bottle wine cellar, a commercial-sized kitchen with cool room, a billiard room, a heated pool and garaging for 12 cars.
Selling agent Joseph Lordi from McGrath Bayside Manly said the property sold to a local family, who planned to make it their forever home.
Inside, the house is lavishly decorated.
“They wanted a statement home,” Mr Lordi said.
“They had never considered Chandler … they were looking in Ascot, Hamilton and other acreage areas.”
The master suite features a bathroom made entirely of emerald green marble.
Mr Lordi said the suburb was starting to attract more interest from buyers wanting statement homes on acreage close to the city — and at a relatively affordable price for what you got
“It’s very tightly held,” he said.

“There are only around 500 properties in Chandler, and only under 20 sales a year.
“I think the average hold rate is 22 years.”

The Swarovski crystal chandelier in the home is worth about $200,000.
The house was built in 1999 and has been kept in impeccable condition.
The master suite occupies almost half the upper floor and incorporates two separate dressing rooms, a kitchenette, a gym and a huge bathroom adorned in emerald green marble.
The master suite is massive.
A huge balcony off the master bedroom overlooks the walled grounds of the estate which include a private orchard.
“There’s only a handful of homes like it in Brisbane,” Mr Lordi said.

There’s a bar and billiard table.
“If you picked that up and put it in Ascot, you’d be paying around $9 million for it.”
Records show the previous highest sale in Chandler was a property at 652 London Road, which fetched $3.85 million in October last year.
The median house price in the suburb is $1.45 million, according to property researcher CoreLogic.
