Behavioral health firm Embark relocates to larger East Valley office space – Phoenix Business Journal

The new home base for a local behavioral health firm with big goals is open in Chandler.
Embark Behavioral Health, a Valley-based company, has moved into its new 24,000-square-foot office at Chandler Viridian, which supports outpatient mental health treatment for preteens, teenagers and young adults across the 15 states in which Embark has a presence, including Arizona.
About 70 employees work at Embark’s Chandler office at 3133 W. Frye Road in mostly back-office roles like billing, accounting, human resources and others.
“The new and improved office space has been a significant positive change for us at Embark,” said Alex Stavros, CEO of Embark Behavioral Health, in a statement. “Working in a space that replicates the welcome our patients’ experiences have made for an inspiring work environment, reminding the team of the Embark mission and ultimately why we are all there.”
The company previously occupied a smaller office in Tempe.
For Stavros and Embark, hiring is a key to accomplishing the firm’s goals of having young adult and teen anxiety, depression and suicide rates reach new lows by 2028. That includes all back office operations at the new Chandler office to bring in more health care workers to provide behavioral health treatment. Embark treats ADHD, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, mental illness and more at its outpatient facilities, according to its website.
“We’re trying to tackle this big goal. There’s a mental health crisis in our country,” Stavros said. “We’re trying to grow as fast as we can while maintaining the highest quality standards in the country. That all starts with people.”
Stavros said Embark offers more than 30 programs and has more than 1,000 employees across the 15 states in which it has a presence. Embark currently has one open outpatient facility in Phoenix at 4747 N. 7th St.

In addition to hiring more people, Stavros said Embark is getting ready to open an outpatient facility at Scottsdale and Indian Bend roads in Scottsdale in January. He said Emabrk will look to open another in the East Valley in late 2023 or early 2024.
The office was designed by Valley architecture firm Phoenix Design One. Features of the new space include bright colors in the paint and furniture choices, lounge areas, conference rooms and a full-service kitchen with a coffee bar.
“Embark’s office design was very much driven by the company’s core purpose which is to Inspire Joy and Heal Generations,” said Avalyn Zizzo, senior designer at Phoenix Design One, in a statement. “We wanted potential visitors and employees to feel an immediate sense of comfort and familiarity once they enter the space. The color palette including all of the vibrant accents was extracted from Embark’s company logo and oak wood tones add warmth to the space. This project is a shining example of expressing the company’s brand, culture and mission and we are very proud to have helped take that vision and turn it into a beautiful space.”
Jerry Roberts of Cushman and Wakefield represented the building owner at the time, Hines, in the lease, and Tyson Breinholt of Commercial Properties Inc. represented Embark Behavioral Health. The lease agreement was a 14-month process, the Phoenix Business Journal previously reported.
Hines opened the Chandler Viridian in January 2019. The six-story office complex, which cost $75 million to complete, totals nearly 250,000 square feet of space. The Chandler Viridian project includes a 138-room Cambria Hotel, 24,000 square feet of retail space and a 330-unit apartment complex.
In December 2021, an entity connected to Hines and New York Life Insurance sold Chandler Viridian to Chandler Properties 2021 LP for $102 million, according to real estate database Vizzda.
