Taco chain will open second St. Louis-area location this month

A restaurant chain that serves tacos will soon open its second St. Louis location, in west St. Louis County.

Tacos 4 Life, a fast-casual franchised restaurant chain, will open a new restaurant in Ballwin in mid-July, restaurant operators said in a news release. It would be the chain’s second St. Louis-area location, after previously opening one in O’Fallon, Missouri, in November 2021.

The roughly 4,500-square-foot new Ballwin location will occupy the former St. Louis Bread Co. space at 14560 Manchester Road, according to the release. Part of the Winchester Plaza shopping center, the property is owned by Hutkin Development Co., St. Louis County records show. Panera, operator of St. Louis Bread Co. restaurants, chose to open a next-generation company-branded cafe just west of the site, on Manchester.

The new Tacos 4 Life will have indoor dining and reserved to-go/app order parking spaces, the company said.

The expansion in St. Louis is led by franchise owners Matt and Jacy Rose and business partner Andy Kendall, who also own the O’Fallon restaurant. The Roses decided to bring the restaurant chain to Missouri after visiting a location in Little Rock, Arkansas, in 2017. Matt Rose is the founder and CEO of wealth management firm STL Wealth.

Now in its 10th year of operations, the restaurant chain, headquartered in Conway, Arkansas, promotes “craft tacos with a cause” and its mission to help end childhood hunger. Its Meal 4 Meal program donates to the nonprofit organization Feed My Starving Children for every taco, salad, quesadilla, rice bowl or nacho sold, the company said.

The O’Fallon location, with about 3,700 square feet of space at 2998 Highway K, has raised funds for more than 940,000 meals since its grand opening, the company said.

The taco chain operates 27 locations concentrated in the southeastern United States, with other Missouri locations in Columbia and Blue Springs, and one in the Kansas City area in Overland Park, Kansas. It was founded by Austin and Ashton Samuelson.
