The Market Maui, formerly nestled in the Wailea Gateway Center, recently made a significant move—and rebrand—to become Spoon & Key Market. Now located a stone’s throw away from some of the more popular Wailea condo communities (neighboring Wailea Ekolu and Grand Champions), in the vibrant and ever improving Wailea Village. This transition marks not just a change of address but a broader re-imagining of what this cherished establishment is able to offer.
Spoon & Key Market seriously sprouted from well established roots, bringing with it a legacy of quality, community, innovation, and worldly flavors. Walk into the new location and it’s hard to advert your gaze from the stunningly vast Pacific and neighbor island views. A truly different interior aesthetic than The Market was, this space offers a refreshed and extensive dining area that spans both inside and out. With its modern design and most welcoming staff, Spoon & Key Market invites locals and visitors alike to explore a diverse and dynamic food and beverage experience.
Some of our favorite breakfast items include The Pig and Egg Panini (ham, egg, cheddar, and dijon, on sourdough), as well as the Chef’s 15 Min Wrap (2 fried eggs, pork belly, potato, cheddar, jalapeño, sriracha aioli, wrapped to perfection). For lunch, we love the Haole Hoagie (pictured directly below: turkey, provolone, pickled onion, avocado, greens, cumin aioli, dijon, on fresh sourdough bread), as well as the Kale Salad with Daily Fresh Catch (pictured two photos below, poolside at Ho’olei: kale, shaved beet, avocado, radish, flax seed, Hawaiian chili vinaigrette, and often seared Ahi), and You Can Count Banh Mi (with those signature Vietnamese flavors of crispy pork belly, ham, pickled veg, jalapeño, cilantro, mint, sriracha aioli, all on sourdough)
While maintaining its commitment to providing high-quality and plenty of locally-sourced products, Spoon & Key Market offers an enriched selection of gourmet foods, artisanal goods, and everyday essentials. They continue to stock a variety of prepared options, perfect for a quick lunch or a no-fuss dinner, alongside an enhanced selection of fine wines, specialty beverages, and gourmand culinary delights.
What’s The Defining Evolution Of Spoon & Key Market?
Perhaps the most dynamic aspect of the new Spoon & Key Market is their new weekend dinner service. Offered on Friday and Saturday nights, the brainchild kitchen of Chef Christopher Kulis and Chef Tarah Principato creates a special menu each week, full of inventive, thoughtful, and well executed dishes that personify each chef’s flair and unique connection to Maui and Pacific Rim cuisine. Originally just a pre-fixe and reservation only experience, dinner crafted at Spoon & Key Market is now available a la carte and for walk-ins as well.
Further expanding upon their hours, Spoon & Key Market has recently started a new Wailea Wednesday staple, dubbed apres-beach. Featuring cocktails, boards & bites every Wednesday from 4:30PM to 8PM, this is another feather in their proverbial culinary cap; perfect for pop ins and last minute cravings, no reservation necessary. An immense evolution from what was mainly a takeout stalwart as The Market Maui, their new space shines with upgraded seating, expansive views and exciting evening experiences.
