NAR Presents Realtor® Cindy Chandler with Distinguished Service … – National Association of Realtors

ORLANDO (November 13, 2022) – Cindy Chandler, a Realtor® from Charlotte, North Carolina, received the National Association of Realtors®’ 2022 Distinguished Service Award. NAR presents this honor annually to a maximum of two of its more than 1.5 million members. This year, two winners were honored and recognized during the 2022 NAR NXT, The REALTOR® Experience in Orlando, Florida.
NAR established the DSA award in 1979 to honor Realtors® who have made outstanding contributions to the real estate industry and serve as leaders in their local communities. The award is considered the highest honor an NAR member can receive from the organization. Recipients must be active at the local, state and national association levels but may not have served as NAR president.
“It’s a privilege to recognize Cindy Chandler for her efforts, long-time service and lasting impact,” said NAR President Leslie Rouda Smith, a Realtor® from Plano, Texas, and a broker associate at Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate in Dallas. “Cindy’s commitment to our industry, association and her community represents everything that the Distinguished Service Award embodies.”
Cindy Chandler has been in real estate for more than 30 years. She is the founder of the consulting and training company, The Chandler Group, in Charlotte, North Carolina, which specializes in investment real estate and strategic planning.
“For more than 20 years, I’ve watched leaders within the Realtor® family receive the Distinguished Service Award, all of whom I admired because of their impressive credentials and dedicated service,” said Chandler. “I never imagined that I would receive this honor. I salute all previous DSA winners for their inspiration and thank everyone who has supported me.”
Prior to The Chandler Group, Chandler was associated with The Cogdell Group, Crosland Group and Paragon Group, where she was involved in syndication, development, brokerage, property management and training. She is also the author of “The Insider’s Guide to Commercial Real Estate,” published by Dearborn/Kaplan Publishing.
Since 2004, Chandler has served in numerous leadership roles for NAR, including as chair of the Commercial Leadership Forum, REALTORS® Commercial Alliance Committee, Commercial Real Estate Research Subcommittee, and Commercial Legislation and Regulatory Subcommittee. She currently serves as NAR’s Executive Committee representative for The Counselors of Real Estate.
Chandler served as president’s liaison for Commercial and Business Specialties in 2010 and 2012, and she was regional vice president for Region 4 (Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee) in 2011. She is a two-time REALTORS® Political Action Committee Hall of Fame member.
In 2006, Chandler was president of the NC REALTORS®, and in 2015 — the same year she chaired the North Carolina Real Estate Commission — she was named North Carolina REALTOR® of the Year. Chandler was inducted into the NC REALTORS® Hall of Fame in 2016. In addition, she has been a national and state leader in the Real Estate Educators Association and is a recipient of REEA’s Jack Wiedemer Distinguished Career Award. Thanks to Chandler’s efforts to incorporate commercial real estate into continuing education available through the state of North Carolina, the state’s CCIM Chapter endowed a scholarship in her name.
Chandler has also served as president of Charlotte Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW), member of the Transportation Committee of 21, chair of the Mecklenburg County’s Zoning Board of Adjustment, chair of the Zoning and Planning committees, and vice chair of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Planning Commission.
The National Association of Realtors® is America’s largest trade association, representing more than 1.5 million members involved in all aspects of the residential and commercial real estate industries.
