Future of Santa Clara: What's in store for Thursday's special in-person event

Santa Clara Mayor Lisa Gillmor along with representatives from Related Companies, SummerHill Apartment Communities, CBRE, Cushman & Wakefield and DRP are all set to take part in a special event Thursday morning exploring what’s happening in Santa Clara.

The event is the latest entry in the Silicon Valley Business Journal’s ongoing “Future of …” series. It’s the first time since 2021 that the SVBJ has held an event taking a deep dive into the the city.

Doors open at 8:30 a.m. with the program starting at 9 a.m. and lasting until 11 a.m. The venue is the Santa Clara Marriott at 2700 Mission College Boulevard. Tickets are available by clicking here.

Here’s what you can expect to see and hear:

  • View from the top: Now into a new term in office, Mayor Gillmor will offer her take on what’s happening in the city and what to expect in the near future.
  • The brokers’ take: Erik Hallgrimson, a vice chairman of Cushman Wakefield, and Mark Christierson, an executive vice president at CBRE, will size up the leasing and sales landscape for commercial properties.
  • What’s up with Tasman East: Steve Eimer, executive vice president with Related Santa Clara, and Nick Vanderboom, the project’s chief operating officer, will be joined by Elaine Breeze, senior vice president for SummerHill Apartment Communities, will discuss the residential building rising new Levi’s Stadium.
  • Get to know DPR: The firm DPR Construction is moving its headquarters from Redwood City to Santa Clara. Find out more from Jody Quinton, DPR’s Northwest regional leader.
