Bright and Beautiful Bungalow in Bisbee, AZ, Seeks an Art-Loving Buyer

In an artsy area in Bisbee, AZ, known for Craftsman bungalows, one colorful and creative abode stands out.

“This one has been owned by artists for the last couple owners, so everyone who buys it seems to put their mark on it,” explains listing agent Bob Klein, with Tierra Antigua Realty.

The vividly hued home is listed for $425,000.

One of those artists who lived in the home was Rose Johnson, an Arizona painter who died in 2009.

“She was a local legend. Her art is unique,” Klein says, pointing to the flourishes she added around “the door frames and around the ceilings and moldings.”

Klein hopes the colorful paint job will remain after the home sale.

The three-bedroom, two-bath home is believed to be a Sears, Roebuck kit house and was built in 1914.

“These are small homes, typically about a thousand square feet. This one has had an addition, so it is 1,200 square feet,” Klein explains.

“We live in a really visually beautiful area as far as landscapes with beautiful colors and red-rock mountains,” he continues. “Bringing that color inside the houses, I always appreciate that. Plus, we’re 5 miles from Mexico’s border, so that is an influence, the Mexican culture of color and not being afraid to use color. That’s what I love about the house.”

The furniture and furnishings could be negotiated into the sale.

The perfect buyer “is definitely an artist because it has so much beautiful art and artistic flair in so many ways,” he says. “I’m hoping an artist resonates with it.”
