Pickleball Kingdom opens in Chandler – Phoenix Business Journal – The Business Journals

Pickleball Kingdom is now open in a former Gold’s Gym location at 4950 W. Ray Road in Chandler. The facility offers 15 indoor pickleball courts.
Mike Rodrigues, who is also the co-founder of Chandler-based True North Energies, opened the new facility after entering into a long-term lease and renovating the former Gold’s Gym at the Chandler Sunset Plaza shopping center.
Pickleball Kingdom is air conditioned, with locker rooms, a lounge, pro shop and snack bar with beer and wine and is available for a variety of events and parties.
• Over in Phoenix, Summit Electric Supply has relocated to a larger leased facility at 317 S. 48th St., the company announced. Cushman & Wakefield represented Summit in the deal.
“Now, we have an 80,000-square-foot warehouse with over 3,000 square feet of showroom space,” Adrian Montoya, Summit’s regional vice president, said in a statement. “When you combine that with our counter service guarantees, Phoenix area electrical pros are going to have a great experience.”
The new location features a full counter, refreshments area, and a will-call desk for phone and online orders. Additionally, Summit offers gear, automation, and lighting teams to support  commercial and industrial projects.
The former location at 205 S. 29th St., where Summit operated for 29 years, was only 29,000 square feet.
Summit Electric Supply is a privately held, independent electrical distributor headquartered in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Founded in 1977, the company operates service centers in 24 U.S. markets. Summit also has international sales and EP&C divisions located in Houston, plus an industrial marine division in New Orleans.
• Also in Phoenix, national window and door maker PGT Innovations (NYSE: PGTI) is expanding its Western Window Systems brand with the purchase of added manufacturing space at its current location.
The new 78,843-square-foot space is in the same building as Western Window’s location at 2200 E. Riverview Drive in Phoenix.
The company said the new space will add 68,043 square feet of manufacturing operations to the current 170,000 square feet already in use, expanding production for the growing brand. Also to be added are 10,800 square feet of office space and employee health and wellness areas that include a gym and health clinic.
“We are immensely proud of the 30 percent year-over-year growth our Western Window Systems brand has experienced over the past two years,” said President and CEO of PGT Innovations Jeff Jackson in a statement. “There has been continuously increasing demand in the markets that Western Window Systems serves, and the brand’s growth is a testament that Western Window Systems offers the products and quality that homeowners are looking for, as well as a commendation of the exceptional work being done by every single team member in our Phoenix facility.”
The Phoenix location currently employs 480 people, and the new space has the potential to add 30 new workers to the headcount, the company said.
The company expects to begin using the new space for production in July. The company designs and manufactures moving glass walls and windows for residential, multifamily and commercial projects.
“We expect this expansion to result in increased efficiency and reduced lead times for our customers and further support our position as a great place to work in Phoenix,” Western Window’s President Mike Wothe said in a statement.
• A 288-unit apartment complex at 945 W. Broadway Road in Mesa has sold for $92 million.
The buyer of The Nolan was Rise48 Equity LLC, and Northmarq Phoenix’s Investment Sales team of Trevor Koskovich, Bill Hahn, Jesse Hudson, and Ryan Boyle represented the buyer in the deal, according to the brokerage.
Additionally, Northmarq Phoenix’s debt and equity team of Brandon Harrington, Bryan Mummaw, Tyler Woodard, and Bryan Liu financed the acquisition with a $72.6 million debt fund execution.
Built in 1986, The Nolan includes one- and two-bedroom units that range in size from 460 to 875 square feet.
Rise48 Equity plans to upgrade the interiors of all the units. 
“Rise48 has purchased over 1,000 multifamily units in Arizona since the start of 2022, and over $1 billion in transactions since 2019,” Harrington said in a statement. “They continue to seek out well-positioned communities with value-add opportunities through improvements to the individual units and the complex amenities.”
• Over in the West Valley, the city of Surprise announced that construction has started on Countryside Park, located north of Countryside Recreation Center and Elementary School at the southwest corner of Greenway Road and Parkview Place.
The park’s primary use will be to facilitate youth sports and will include eight youth multipurpose fields, lighting, restrooms and parking.
The city hired Willmeng Construction and Kimley Horn Planning and Design for the construction and design of this project, which is scheduled to be complete in 2023.
• Set Apart Group Fitness has opened its first location at 825 S. Cooper Rd. in Gilbert. The co-owners are Colette Washington and Brandon Washington.
The 3,000-square-foot gym offers 50-minute high-intensity interval workouts accompanied with music. The gym is equipped with Rogue Assault Bikes, Concept 2 Rowers, Concept 2 SkiErgs, dumbbells, free-weights and more.
• FiiZ Drinks is set to open on May 28 at 52 S. Mesa Drive in downtown Mesa. The shop will offer 58 soda flavors add-ons, smoothies, creams, Italian Sodas and Choffy (flavored coffee drinks) on the menu. FiiZ also has a select menu of snacks such as soft pretzels, nachos, Chonuts (cross between a churro and a donut) and more.
