Scottsdale Quarter, a shopping center known for its high-end offerings, will soon be home to a new mini golf concept that targets an upscale adult audience.
Puttshack will open June 14 in a two-story, 25,000-square-foot space at the southeast corner of the Scottsdale outdoor shopping center.
The Scottsdale Puttshack location is part of the company’s national expansion project. The first location, in Atlanta, opened in 2018, and Scottsdale will mark the ninth Puttshack. Puttshack was created by Steven and Dave Jolliffe, the team behind the very successful Topgolf franchise.
“Puttshack’s truly unique, spirited energy matches the atmosphere at Scottsdale Quarter perfectly and will provide Scottsdale residents and visitors with a fantastic new destination to spend time with friends and family,” Susan Walmesley, Puttshack’s chief marketing officer, said in a statement.
Puttshack will have four different courses in its Scottsdale location, each of which will be integrated with the company’s patented Trackaball technology that allows for automated scoring.
Besides the mini golf, Puttshack will have a restaurant and cocktail bar that was designed to have “a vibrant, upscale nightlife atmosphere,” according to the company announcement. Puttshack will also include multiple private event spaces and an expansive patio area.
“This one-of-a-kind destination will bring an unparalleled entertainment experience to our community, expanding the center’s already dynamic array of shopping, dining, and entertainment options,” Richard Hunt, the general manager of Scottsdale Quarter, said in a statement.
Puttshack is looking to continue the company’s growth. In late 2022, Puttshack received a $150 million growth capital round from funds managed by BlackRock Inc. The company is using those funds to secure unique and desirable real estate opportunities in top markets across the U.S. and invest in new technologies.
Mini golf is a hot ticket right now in the Valley’s retail and entertainment spaces. Earlier this year, the Tiger Woods-owned PopStroke opened at the Westgate Entertainment District in Glendale and later this year a second PopStroke is set to open at the Pavilions at Talking Stick in Scottsdale.
Greg Bartoli, a co-owner of PopStroke, told the Business Journal he’s looking at real estate in Gilbert and Tucson for other locations of his company.
Correction: The original headline of this article implied that Topgolf owns the Puttshack brand. Puttshack was designed by the originators of Topgolf, but is a separate company.
